Habra is a Government - sponsored, UGC
recognized Co-educational College and it is
affiliated to the WEST BENGAL STATE UNIVERSITY, Barasat, North 24 Parganas, got Grade 'B++'
accrediation from National Accrediation Commitee
(NAAC) of
University Grant Commission of India. The
College started its journey in August,1956.
Now it is one of the big and
prestigious learning centers in the Eastern India.
It has three shifts. Morning which is
exclusively for girls, Evening exclusively
for Boys and Day for co-education
purpose
.

There are sixteen UG faculties where fourteen Honours courses
and two UG faculty where general
course are taught. Round about 5000 students,69
full time permanent teaching staff apart
from a good number of contractual teachers
and 54 non-teaching staff from the bedrock of
the college

The College is located 45 kilometers from Kolkata on one side
of Jessore Road in between two railway
stations- Habra and Ashok Nagar. As the College
is situated beside the National High Way -34
and close to two railway stations various
regular transport services are
available

The College is governed by a
statutory Governing Body that is
constituted with nominated members from the
State Government, eminent personalities from
Locality, teaching and non-teaching and student
representatives. The Principal is the executive
head of the Institution, but several
Sub-committees are the key bodies formed with
teaching and non-teaching staff for proper
functioning
.
